Thursday, July 20 - "Off Door County's Beaten Path"
Door County is known for lots of great “must sees” and “must dos” during the summertime. You probably can name at least 6 without thinking too hard.
For this trip we decided to take you to some “must sees and dos” that you might not have found when you have visited the Door before. We have put together a day consisting of some stops that are a little bit off the beaten path to show you a different, peaceful side of Door County - during their busiest time of year!
Susan Beno has some wonderful breakfast treats and snacks in mind for this one and we’ll share those throughout the day. She also has a great luncheon set up.
Besides delicious food, we will enjoy a visit to the The Ridges Sanctuary and the Bailey’s Harbor Range Lights. We’ll hear the important story of this area to Wisconsin’s history, and more importantly, the environment. Another stop on this trip takes us to Horseshoe Bay Farms - one of the oldest preserved farms in the Midwest. Recently the farm has undergone some changes and a movement has taken place to bring awareness back to the farms. Their Mission at Horseshoe Bay Farms is to act as a responsible steward through preservation, rehabilitation and activation of historic Horseshoe Bay Farms to secure its future for generations to come. From their massive Dahlia Gardens to the giant sculpture “Stickwork” to the barns and mercantile, you will learn so much Door County history while enjoy the beauty of this farmstead.
We have another fun, interactive surprise in store for you off the beaten path that will let you bring home some of the beauty of your Day in Door County!
Sign up for this trip and join us for a relaxing Door County Day that leaves the traffic and crowds behind and lets the beauty of Door County shine!
Our day will begin at the Hoffman Road Park and Ride with our Discovery Coach boarding at 7:30 am for an 8:00 am departure. Our anticipated return will be at 6:00 pm.
